The Sports Law Association of Malaysia (SLAM) recently signed two Memorandum of Understanding with international partners to collaborate in the promotion of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), including sports mediation and arbitration.
The signing ceremony was held in Nanning, China, during the 2nd Asia ADR Summit, where SLAM was also a supporting organization.
The MoU with the Philippines International Center for Conflict Resolution (PICCR) and Maldives International Arbitration Centre (MIAC) signified the importance SLAM gave to cross border ties in handling such disputes through ADR.
PICCR was represented by Mr Allan G Panalong and Sixto Jose C. Antonio and MIAC by its Vice-Chairman Mohamed Aseel Hassan. Past president Samrith Kaur, who was also a delegate at the Summit, signed both MoU on behalf of SLAM.
In addition to establishing a framework for collaboration between the parties for the promotion and development of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods, SLAM also hopes for closer cooperation, within the mandate of each Party, to jointly promote sports mediation and arbitration.
