SLAM had the privilege of meeting the new Sports Commissioner of Malaysia, Arrifin Mohd Ghani, and his team, at the National Sports Council for a dialogue to work together in the interests of sports in the country.
During the meeting, which included several EXCO Members, we engaged in lively discussions on various sports-related topics. One key focus was on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) as a progressive approach to addressing sporting disputes and issues.
A highlight was reconnecting with Arrifin, a former Malaysian national hockey player from 1989-1993.
Our dialogue also centered on the significance of internal dispute mechanisms and the importance of mediation in resolving issues among athletes and sporting associations. The exchange of ideas was stimulating and insightful.
SLAM eagerly anticipates further collaborations between the Sports Commissioner's Office, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Olympic Council of Malaysia and the National Sports Council to foster a continued passion for sports within the country.
