SLAM President and several of its members participated in the Asean Sports Integrity and Anti-Doping Symposium 2025 in Labuan alongside the 47th Asean Summit in 2025.
Organized and hosted by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia (KBS), the two-day event attracted a significant turnout from the sports community, regulators and educators within Asean and beyond.
SLAM members, who are part of the Malaysian Anti-Doping Agency (ADAMAS) Results Management Committee, enhanced their knowledge and international collaboration aimed at promoting sport integrity and good governance in Malaysia and the region.
The symposium welcomed over 100 participants from 14 nations, including Japan, South Korea, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, China, Nepal, Australia, Fiji, and the Philippines. It was part of the Youth and Sports Development programme under Malaysia’s Asean Chairmanship 2025.
KBS secretary-general Datuk Dr K Nagulendran, who officiated the event, emphasized issues related to sports integrity go beyond mere rule violations and can undermine the spirit of sportsmanship.
The symposium also included sessions on the implementation of the World Anti-Doping Code and International Standards 2027, value-based education, match-fixing prevention and sports governance.
Participants included representatives from the World Anti-Doping Agency, Japan Anti-Doping Agency, Korea Anti-Doping Agency, Sport Integrity Australia, Asian Football Confederation, Badminton World Federation, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, Asean Secretariat, Olympic Council of Malaysia, and Paralympic Council of Malaysia, among others.
