SLAM and ABU Media Academy jointly organised an important webinar on satellite and digital piracy, which was well attended by viewers all over the world. The Speaker was SLAM member, Mr Jagshey Pipariya (Partner, LLP Law), who spoke on the Legal Challenges, Case Studies and Solutions to satellite and digital piracy.
The digital age has brought about innovation in sports in a way that we could have only imagined at the turn of the century. It has transformed the way athletes prepare for games and the way viewers access content.
With this have emerged legal challenges in broadcasting and media rights, as well as the regulation needed to ensure that “fair play” remains the name of the game, even when addressing digital piracy and access to live content.
Jagshey also discussed practical legal and technological solutions adopted by rights holders, broadcasters, and regulators to combat piracy.
SLAM and ABU plan to have a series of such joint sports law webinars in the future.
